Friday Runways will honor Style Setters Cassie LaMere with a portion of proceeds benefitting Center for Child Protection and A.J. Bingham benefitting YMBL Austin Sunshine Camps.
A life-long passion for philanthropy has inspired Cassie LaMere to devote her time both personally and professionally to charitable causes. This passion was amplified when she was crowned Miss Missouri Teen in 2004. Cassie traveled across the state speaking to schools and organizations about the importance of giving back. After receiving a proclamation that same year from the Governor of Missouri for her community service, Cassie knew that philanthropy would always play a significant role in her life. Cassie graduated with honors from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. She built a successful career in the fashion industry working for Michael Kors before making her way to Austin in 2008.
Although she’ll always love fashion, her heart for fundraising led her to pursue a career that aligned with her degree in event coordination. As the Event Marketing Director for Lexus of Austin & Lakeway, Cassie is the steward of the family-owned businesses’ generous philanthropic giving throughout the community. Last year alone, the company helped raise over $1.2 Million dollars for local charities. Cassie values the opportunity to impact numerous non-profits through her role by providing leadership, financial support and planning assistance to their partner organizations. Cassie’s commitment to non-profit organizations extends outside the office, as well; she serves on several boards, committees and has chaired events raising funds for causes including the Center for Child Protection, Austin Child Guidance Center, Ballet Austin, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas and Texas Performing Arts. In 2015, Cassie was recognized for her contributions to the Austin community as a nominee for both an Austin Under 40 and AFP Philanthropy Day award. Cassie also participated as a celebrity dancer in Dancing with the Stars Austin 2015 benefiting the Center for Child Protection.
A.J. Bingham is the Director of Government Affairs for the Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA). He is responsible for RECA’s political and policy efforts, with an emphasis on the City of Austin, but extending to the Central Texas region.
In the community, A.J. serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Long Center for the Performing Arts, Young Men’s Business League of Austin and the Trail of Lights Foundation. He was a finalist in the 2013 Austin Under 40 Awards Government & Public Affairs category, and named a Rising Star in Capitol Inside’s 2015 Texas Power Lobby Rankings.
He received his B.A. in Political Science from Wake Forest University, and J.D. from Washburn University School of Law. He has been a resident of Austin for over 25 years.
